NEIL ASPIN APPOINTED PORT VALE MANAGER

Port Vale FC has confirmed the appointment of Neil Aspin as the new Manager with immediate effect.

The 52 year-old former Valiant defender makes his return to Vale Park, 18 years after departing the club as a player back in 1999.

Aspo played a significant part during the clubs successful run in the 90’s, becoming the club captain and winning Player of the Year on two separate occasions.

We can also confirm the appointment of former Vale manager, John Rudge as the new Director of Football at Port Vale.

Rudge managed Vale from 1983 to 1999, becoming the longest serving manager in the clubs history, helping to secure three promotions and the Football League Trophy during his time in charge.

The new Director of Football was also the man who brought Neil Aspin to Vale Park and named his club captain during his 10 year spell as a player in Burslem.

Aspin followed in the footsteps of his former Manager and became the First Team Manager at Harrogate Town, Halifax Town and Gateshead.

Port Vale Football Club would like to thank Gateshead and the Chairman, Richard Bennett for allowing Neil to return to the club.

Bennett had this to say about the departure of Aspin: “Neil has left the club on very good terms.

"He's an ambitious person and we couldn't stand in his way of managing a Football League side where he is held in such high regard.

“We would like to thank Neil for his services for the club and wish him the very best for the future."
