LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: GUARDIOLA’S CLINICAL ATTACK PUNISHES WATFORD

The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Manchester City for their emphatic 6-0 victory against Watford on Saturday 16th September 2017.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result.

Sergio Aguero scored a superb hat-trick to move within just two goals of equaling Eric Brook's record of 177 as City hit Watford for six.

City again did most of the hard work in the opening period, scoring three goals in the space of ten mesmerising minutes to blow Watford away for the second time in four matches away from home.

The Blues recorded a 5-0 win back in May that could have ended in double figures and despite a more resolute start by the Hornets on this occasion, the end result was actually worse as City hit another three after the break..
